Why it's time for B2B brands to use Instagram as SEO update rolls out

Written by Jordan Platt | Jul 9, 2025 12:42:44 PM

Starting July 10, 2025, Instagram will begin indexing content from professional accounts, specifically photos and videos, into search engine results, including Google. This marks a significant shift for B2B marketers, as SEO will become a core consideration in Instagram content strategy; opening up a whole new platform/world for our B2B clients (very exciting).

While the feature has been available to creator accounts for some time via manual toggling, it will now be enabled by default for professional accounts. This change makes cross-posting visual content from platforms like LinkedIn, X, or Bluesky to Instagram not just a brand-building tactic, but a measurable opportunity to enhance organic discoverability and drive qualified traffic.

Instagram introduces Search Engine Optimisation

Let’s talk about why this shift is significant for you, though:

Your brand will receive increased discoverability

Traditionally, Instagram content was walled off from search engines, meaning it didn’t show up in Google searches. Now, B2B content: thought leadership videos, behind-the-scenes reels, product demos, can surface in Google results. Result (get it?). Dad joke fully intended.

As we all already know, B2B buyers do heavy research before engaging with sales, and appearing in search makes producing and publishing content on the platform relevant for end-to-end, allowing buyers to discover who you are, what you offer, your specific solutions, and humanises your brand, producing product sales.

Organic reach is a beast that keeps on growing

Allowing Instagram media in search engines improves your SEO footprint, especially for branded and niche industry terms.

So, your company might already rank for blog content, but now your visual social content can also rank, doubling your exposure and online reach, as videos or carousel posts with industry keywords (in captions, alt text, etc.) are now SEO assets.

Meta provides SEO opportunity for B2B

More content will increase exposure

B2B is increasingly driven by trust and transparency. Searchable Instagram content offers a visual, authentic look at:

  • Company culture
  • Product use cases
  • Testimonials
  • Events or thought leadership moments

And isn’t that why we do what we do? The integration of Social/SEO/PR is now even more intentional than ever for brand building.

Repurposing content to increase ROI at minimal cost

If you're already creating content for other social platforms, such as LinkedIn, X, YouTube, having it repurposed for Instagram extends its lifespan and reach far beyond the platforms you’re already active on, and the integration of SEO pushes that reach even further. Benefits upon benefits, as it can only improve your content’s ROI and support your multi-channel strategy without additional production cost prior to seeing results.

The end results? Well, for B2B brands, visibility in search means more touchpoints with decision-makers, from the CMO Googling your brand to a mid-level manager researching vendor culture. Instagram being searchable means social content now works harder across the funnel.

And there are now many more brilliant additions to your social media strategy that this quite simple feature integration can bring to the table for your sales. If you want to learn how, get in touch.
