The Challenge
In July 2025, Microsoft publicly admitted that it could not guarantee data sovereignty to customers in France, and by implication, the wider European Union, if the Trump administration demanded access to customer information held on its servers.
For Civo, a vocal advocate for data sovereignty, this breaking news represented a fantastic opportunity to position itself at the heart of the debate and emphasise the importance of sovereignty. To support this goal, Resonance needed to act swiftly to help Civo to respond to the news at speed, with authority, and in a way that tied into Civo’s ongoing sovereignty research campaign, which Resonance had executed for Civo.
