We slipped from 7th to 9th in week 6 of our UK B2B Tech PR AI Visibility Index. Hotwire took first place from Clarity by a fraction of a point. The more useful finding for us is what ChatGPT does with our category page: it read the page in 18 answers this week and named us in 6 of them.
Every week we ask AI assistants the same 86 questions a buyer might ask when looking for a UK B2B tech PR agency, and we count which agencies they recommend. Hotwire and Clarity both finished on 8.4% of the weighted share of mentions, with Hotwire just ahead. Brands2Life came 3rd on 7.7% and Wildfire 4th on 7.2%, followed by Babel PR, Eskenzi PR and Archetype. We were 9th on 3.8%, just behind CCgroup.
Google AI Mode is back after two weeks in which our data supplier couldn't return its answers, so all six assistants count again. AI Mode puts Hotwire first, and that is what moves Hotwire ahead of Clarity overall. It doesn't explain our own drop. Leave AI Mode out and we'd still be 9th.
Four of the six assistants named us less often than in week 5.
| Assistant | Answers naming us, week 5 | Week 6 | Our rank on it, week 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | 31 | 27 | 8th |
| Grok | 68 | 60 | 5th |
| Perplexity | 26 | 14 | 12th |
| Gemini | 14 | 10 | 16th |
| Google AI Overviews | 7 | 12 | 15th |
| Google AI Mode | No data | 12 | 10th |
ChatGPT counts eight times as much as Perplexity or Grok in our weighting, so its four fewer answers weighed more than Perplexity's twelve. Our check questions changed on Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and AI Overviews this week, which means part of the movement on those four comes from the assistants themselves. ChatGPT's check answers held.
ChatGPT cited our B2B tech PR page in 18 answers this week, up from 16. It named us in 6 of them. In 25 answers it showed our site as a source chip, the small "Resonance PR +1" label it places after a point it took from a page, and then recommended other agencies. We don't count those chips as mentions, and neither does a buyer reading the answer.
The page lists 13 agencies in the order of this index, which puts us 9th on our own page this week. ChatGPT uses it as a guide to the market and shortlists from the top of it. One of its answers described our ranking as a measure of AI recommendations, which is accurate. The trouble for us is that a page built to be a fair comparison doesn't make a strong case for any one agency, including the one that wrote it.
Gemini cited Archetype's own UK page, titled "Best Tech PR Agency in the UK for B2B Tech Brands", in 32 answers this week. It hadn't cited it at all in week 5. Gemini now ranks Archetype 2nd, behind Clarity, and Archetype rose from 8th to 7th overall. Across all six assistants the page was cited in 58 answers, up from 34.
Gemini didn't cite our category page once this week, after 5 citations in week 5. Gemini finds its sources through Google Search, so a page that ranks for the words a buyer types has a head start with it. Archetype published the page in early September.
Clarity's ranking page is still the most-cited page in the study, in 164 answers against 170 last week.
Leave out the answers that were reading our own site and we're 14th, down from 10th. Hotwire, Brands2Life and Wildfire lead that view, as they did last week, because articles and lists on other websites name them often. Clarity is 8th on that measure.
Most of our visibility still comes from assistants reading our pages. That makes the gap between how often they read us and how often they recommend us the thing to work on.
